Ryan Hughes has more than 10 years of experience as a scientist, entrepreneur, and dog owner – not necessarily in that order. He obtained his PhD in Biochemistry at Texas A&M University, was a postdoctoral research fellow at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and is now part of The Patents to Products program at the University of Memphis.

Previously, he was the co-founder of a cancer diagnostic startup out of the University of Tulsa and is now the founder and CEO of Nuvelus, a biotech startup focused on treating damaged skin caused by inflammatory skin diseases and autoimmune disorders. He has also been a part of the Memphis Scipreneur Challenge (MSC) the past two years, and is very excited to be named the Director of MSC and Entrepreneurism of the Memphis Academic Alliance Chapter for 2020-2021.
