Changing Lives Through Science
That’s been our purpose since BioTN was founded in 2007 when Leslie Wisner-Lynch, DDS, DMSc launched our non-profit organization with her husband Sam Lynch, DMD, DMSc. Today, over a decade later, we’re still investing in people and ideas, in the greatest state in the union. Our “Learn, Grow, Build” mantra represents how we do it.
We educate our next generation of science all-stars. The students who learn with us will change the world—not in the future, but sometime soon.
We create programs that develop Tennessee’s workforce. When you grow your skills with us, you’re investing in your future.
We support our state’s most promising scientific entrepreneurs as they build Nashville’s future through enterprise-level business building.
Our Mission Statement
BioTN’s mission is to promote, within the state of Tennessee, the
Southeastern US and beyond:
1. Knowledge of, and education in, STEM and the biosciences
2. Innovation and entrepreneurship in STEM and the biosciences
3. The positive impact of STEM and the biosciences on human health
Here’s Why We Do It
We believe that through investment in those three critical areas—education, workforce development, and entrepreneurship, our state will continue to grow into a major hub of research and development that will change lives. And we plan on being a big part of making that happen.
As a state, we’ve made so much progress. Tennesseans have made world-changing discoveries. We’ve built world-class research and educational institutions. And we’ve grown world-leading companies in biotech, healthcare, health IT, and product development industries.
But there’s more to be done. There are more lives to change. So join us.
Here’s What We’re Helping Build:

STEM Preparatory Academy
We teach tomorrow’s problem solvers. STEM Preparatory Academy is dedicated to delivering a rigorous, inquiry-based education with a strategic focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. By cultivating a community of learning and academic excellence, STEM Prep will bolster the number of underrepresented students who graduate from the most competitive postsecondary programs and universities in the country and lead the discoveries and innovations of the future.

An Incubator for Science Business
